In an exhibit at Funkyard I am presenting new work that is the first step in realizing an idea that I have been exploring for the last three years.
Using the juxtaposition of vintage stag film heroines and religious shrines, I am exploring the fine line between life’s choices. This new varied body of work is created with repurposed materials that range from emitting light sources to dark enclosed containers, from carnival peep shows to crucifixions, and from reality to the surreal. I trust that the viewer will remember that, no matter how I use symbols, figures and objects, my concern as an assemblagist should not be confused with my sympathies or a literary approach to the subject matter.
The exhibit opens October 3, 2014 with an artist reception from 7 to 10 p.m. at Funkyard in Fountain Square, Indianapolis and runs through the month.
Tuesday – Thursday 10:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Friday – Saturday 10:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Sunday – Noon – 5 p.m.
