People and Places – Kewanna, Indiana

I am very excited to be showing work at Diane Tesler‘s art space for People and Places during the last weekend in October.  I will be showing new work, including the premier showing of a new piece, James Spencer Russell (an homage).  For the past two and one half years I have been working on research for the James Spencer Russell exhibition at the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis which opens April 4, 2014.  This piece was inspired by my appreciation of Russell’s art and his life’s rich history.  Each part of this work has a material or design that has a specific tie to Russell’s life.  It is a privilege to premier this work in Kewanna, Russell’s home for many years.

Also, I will be showing, Incorrect, the piece that won “Best of Show” in the recent Southeastern Indiana Art Guild’s regional exhibition.

Diane and Wade Bussert work very hard to make this annual event very special.  At least 30 artists are showing work and musicians are playing both days.  Diane is showing her newest work, environmental portraits of local residents.  They are beautifully done and are large scale.  For the past year Wade has been mostly drawing and painting with watercolors.  He will be showing new work depicting local scenes.
